Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I will be the Queen of the Slow Transition as I will insist on putting cycling shorts on over my trisuit :-).

Also, note to self and other newbies: single skin socks, *not* twin skins!!

You don't wear socks!!

If you must insist on wearing themy put them on for the run. Wet feet into socks is bad. After the ride your feet will be dry.

My bike shoes would rip my feet to shreds without socks. I could manage the run.

If you feel you need socks on.. cover a small towel with talc and fold it in half.. stick your feet in it while you fiddle about putting on your race belt/number belt and then your feet will be dry enough to get your socks on.

I'm no expert and feel free to ignore me...

I ride in my running shoes so socks will go on in T1. It takes as long as it takes - I'll be slower than a slow thing anyway
If I do it, that is

I practice cycling and running without socks in the lead up to a race. Plenty of talc.

I, too, feel the need for socks for the bike bit. talc, yes, but put them on when you're setting your stuff up, then roll them down slowly as you take them off. it made it easier (for me!) to roll them back on even with wetish feet.

one of those Dyson air blade dryers is probably going a bit too far...

I fear that all this talk of socks may lead to the use of the phrase MTFU on this thread in the not too distant future

I guess it really depends on your reasons for taking part. If you really want to race the fuck out of it.. no socks.. if you are just having a fun day out be as comfortable as you like!

Glenn - wtf are you wearing on the bike, Hobnail boots ??

Joking aside and avoiding MTFU

Practice practice practice anything under 70.3 and you don't want to be faffing with socks

These are things for training

There are certain shoes I wouldn't want to ride in without socks and I have trainers I wouldn't run in but even a Base entry try cycling shoe is designed around no socks being worn.
