So I've gone about this quite a lot, in my blog etc. Please consider entering this triathlon I am organising, it's very short and easy, would be a great race for a first timer. My friend Nicola has been courageously battling cancer for 3 years now and has recently been given the worst news. She has a 4 year old daughter and an incredibly tight knit family and unsurprisingly huge friend circle, who are all devastated. In true Nic fashion though she fights on and is determined to leave a legacy. We are all clubbing together to help her raise money for her chosen charity, The Royal Marsden Cancer Treatment Centre. We are organising a Family Fun Day in Congleton in Cheshire which celebrates family, friends, positivity and the beauty and strength of life. All finishers will receive a medal, a T-shirt and an entry to the afternoon Fun Day (includes a free BBQ!). There will be prizes for all category winners. There will also be a 1k children's fun run with T-shirts and medals for all finishers. The event then moves on to the afternoon festivities, a free BBQ and soft drinks, a fun inflatable 'It's a Knockout' course, bouncy castles, games, music and a fantastic raffle with great prizes. Tickets for the event are here: eventbrite.co.uk Triathlon entries here: stuweb.co.uk It's on Fetch race listings too. Go on, you know you want to ![]() M4P has very bravely taken the first entry and has race no.1, come and join her! x |

Got a pool based triathlon coming up and I've never done a pool based one before, cue stupid questions. Do I just wear my tri suit for the swim and then hop on the bike? Am I allowed to be topless for the swim and then throw a top on for the bike? Are there any special pool based rules I should know about? I'm finding the thought of the pool swim more stressful than open water. |

I've done both (topless and tri suit) and seen both multiple times. Which one are you doing? How long is the swim? I think the only funnies for pool based are the same as non-wetsuit: no compression socks in the pool. Swim caps seem to be optional. One I did disallowed tumble turns (though that used a snake system where there were people going under ropes so kind of understandable). Be prepared for quite a lot of standing around before your wave starts. Don't shower too early. |

Pool swims I've been in have always issued caps for counting purposes (each swimmer in the lane wears a different colour). It's been about 75:25 for banning tumble-turns, probably best to clarify that if you're planning to tumble. Otherwise, what he said ^^^ |
