Yes, holes! Skewer while you drizzle.

I didn't realise you were new to baking LG. I hole with a thin skewer when it first comes out of the oven and then drizzle and leave to cool in the tin.

I baked bread for OH yesterday (just a bog standard easy loaf - none of the fancy stuff you folk do). We finished the lemon polenta cake so I will bake today, probably something with banana as I have some lovely ripe ones and some in the freezer ready for when we want nice cream. Going to give this a go though I don't actually have quite the required amount of dates, raisins or sultanas - I'm sure it will be fine.

Yeah a newbie ;-) starting with simple styles
I made another cake this afternoon as I am meeting a chum tomorrow and this time I skewered holes as I drizzled and what a difference - thank you.

Funnily enough I was looking at a lentil version of those on the link that someone (sallykate?) posted for me on the vegetarian thread Paul. Glad that everyone liked them.

Baking is a great hobby LG - as long as you have plenty of people willing to eat the result for you!

Can't recommend the banana, date and rum cake. OH liked it which surprised me as it's very not sweet. I thought it was a waste of my dried fruit. It will make a good pudding with some custard though.

Assuming you mean cutting back on the fat and sugar Mandymoo? You can mash some ripe banana up to make some of the ‘liquid’ part of the flapjack mix - it works well imo
