Re Ethels, I've had a reply to a very general query to the DoBIH people (Chris Cocker). I ddn't mention Fetch
We get lots of requests to add new lists to the database, some of which come from guidebook authors hoping to boost sales! Many become forgotten or attract limited interest. Hence our default position is to wait for evidence of significant demand.
Yours is the second request we've had -- the other was a week ago! I note there's an app in addition to a book, a Facebook group and quite a lot on the web, so plenty is being done to promote the list and its popularity is evidently growing. I'll put it to the team.

I'm assuming the request 'last week' wasn't Fetch, was it?

Just to add to the Loadpot discussion. The WW isn't registered for me either. Now amongst all my other visits to Loadpot on JNLC attempts and recces I know for sure I supported Carol's 2nd WWs attempt over there, guided by Little Dave and his detailed knowledge of WW tops. I recall very clearly a discussion there about what exactly constituted the correct top and care being taken to ensure we visited it. I haven't worked my way through all of NE's comments but there clearly seems to be something amiss?

Looking at Harold Street website that gives the grid ref of the WW 97m to the NE of the DoBIH summit (which fits the picture I have in my head). Given the DoBIH summit is 80m from the TP and the activation zone doesn't reach the TP or the mapped path I think the error in the WW grid ref means it's possible to visit both the Trig and the WW top but not activate the WW counter. Not sure what this means for Birketts etc (I'm know nothing of those lists and I'd like to keep it that way!)

Yep, I'd agree with that D.

As far as I can tell, the Birkett and Fellranger is the trig point.

Funny you should mention Little Dave, FF, as he told me to watch out for the right top on Loadpot Hill (and Shipman Knotts!) as I was setting off on this leg on Carol's successful round last year.

OK. Had a great day with eldest son out on the fells. Bagged 7 Wainwright's - or should it be 6? Brock Crags - it's GPS claimed on the Dodd list but I've missed it on the Wainwrights - didn't go quite far enough over.
Would you manually claim it or make yourself go back another time (at present I've manually claimed it )

Down to the individual TR. It's only a personal challenge after all.

Also, I guess, what makes Fetch's capture radius any more correct than any other (other than being bang-on, obviously)?

I've updated the collector. Additions since Friday:

1) trig points and hills now have different icons.
2) there's a 'Show location' button next to each thing you've collected, which will zoom the map to it.
3) there's a page for each thing now. It shows the height (for hills only), a small map, and a list of people who have visited this point. Click the titles in your list of collected points, or look for the link in the popup.
4) the hills and trigs are now available as a layer to the route plotter, and on your training entries. The layer is called 'Points'.
5) the lists under the map now show all available collections, not just the ones you've begun.
6) the collection headers now include a progress indicator e.g. (1/2160 collected)

This is so good - I love being able to whiz to all the places I'd forgotten I'd ever visited. Now I just need some rain and I've got an excuse to spend all afternoon on it :-P

About This Thread

Maintained by um
Given the auto bagging recognition developents, first Wainwrights and now all sorts, opening up a thread for general discussion and whatever comes next.

A note from the lawyers : Existence or reference to a point doesn't imply it's necessarily safe or legal to access it.

And hopefully leave the Lake District Lovers thread for Lake District topics.
