I've given up trying for a 5. Until Ragnarok and Stray come out, I don't need it.

But I wants it...

Up to rank 14 in Gwent - the first of the semi-grown-up ranks. The lack of RNG makes progression much less haphazard - although the level of surprise fun goes too, obv.

So having got to the point of being competent at Gwent the lack of ‘fun’ really starts to grate.

Have they fixed Hearthstone yet?

If a game isn't fun, it's not worth playing. Something I had to remind myself of when getting sucked into a few mobile games.

I managed to escape Hades on my 42nd attempt. And then 3 more times before my 50th. Nice to see it still finds way to increase difficulty, yet still stay fun. Every win against the 3rd and 4th bosses feels like an achievement.

I understand JK's angle - particularly with reward tracks and XP targets, games can feel like homework rather than fun. Hearthstone's a good example - I caught myself thinking "Oh no, I need to win my 4th and 5th ranked games of the week before I can play something I want to play tonight", and that's not a good sign at all...

Used to play Marvel: Contest of Champions, and Top War. Both games have a strong social side, so I felt I was enjoying myself, but the fact was the actual games were repetitive without feeling rewarding. I'm wary of all games-as-service now - I want my game to have a beginning, middle, and most importantly end. And preferably a decent story, but that's a bonus.
