I previously mostly played overclocked stealth archers, but the one I completed was a little more two-handed hammer (Nerveshatter) with a sensible amount of archery and heavy armour.

I thought that no matter the intention everyone ends up as a stealth archer in skyrim. Just restarted Dark Souls 3 to focus on a sorcery build - Always ended up as a strength build with a 2 hand ultra greatsword in Soulsbourne games and trying to force a different style is not natural for me |

More recently been playing The Last of Us but despite changing all the settings it gives me terrible motion sickness. Any ideas? Give Skyrim another try? |

Yes, that's true. I found stealth archer was not as good for the last few bits with dragons or inside the black books though. Nerveshatter probably wasn't even the best hammer I could have used (and I was very sad to lose it inside a black book), but a decent melee weapon in addition to stealth archer worked well for me. BG1 and 2 can be picked up very cheaply, quite different to BG3 or Skyrim, but quite lengthy. Then there are all the other Elder Scrolls games, add-ons etc. I still have a soft spot for Morrowind. |

My experience of Skyrim was not great. I came to it from playing Fallout 4, which I'd abandoned after many hours of enjoyment, because it glitched and I couldn't begin a mission. So the interface was familiar, but clunky by comparison - and within the first hour I'd got stuck behind a locked door with a baddie bearing down on me. As I recall, I kept respawning in the same spot and dying pretty much instantly. So I gave up. |

Skyrim by its nature can very much end up in the loading/instant death cycle against an overpowered enemy so you have to keep a recent manual save to go with the autosave. I find it suffers from the same thing that most open world games do which is repetition and bloatwork to fill the space with things to do. The ubisoft franchises are the worst for this but even Fromsoft messed up the DarkSouls formula producing a far inferior gaming experience in Elden Ring I much prefer a linear game with a tight but clear storyline to follow |

I forgot about Fallout 4 and New Vegas. I think I finished those too. Others that have a lot of hours on Steam: Plague Inc (can't get past the Planet of the Apes scenario) Plants vs Zombies (played through 10x or more) Don't starve (Have managed a couple of years survival occasionally, but haven't really got far on the "quest") This war of mine (Have finished this and the expansions - very thought provoking, but could be triggering) |

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
Had to see whether Last of Us was on Steam sale. It's not. But Life is Strange (remastered) is down to 13.59. Ooh. G
