Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Definitely remember Descent - my sister's boyfriend (who was really just a proxy brother for me) used to play it whilst I watched - similarly for Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Redneck Rampage, and later Silent Hill.

He also ruined the commentary on FIFA (probably a mid 90s one) for me - there was a player called Petrescu, which Rob would always follow up with "Animal Hospital". His humour was always utterly stupid, but funny with his delivery

The best Apogee platformer was Hocus Pocus! Childhood favourite of mine, still play it sometimes.

Going back a few pages to Fire Emblem Three Houses vs Xenoblade Chronicles 3:

Fire Emblem Three Houses is strategy/tactical combat with social sim stuff on the side. I actually prefer the Fire Emblem games with less social sim stuff so would probably recommend Fire Emblem Engage instead if you're not fussed about that stuff either.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is command-based action combat with a more typical semi-open world JRPG experience. I would recommend playing games 1 and 2 first, though, otherwise you might get a little lost with the story.

Think I played the Hocus Pocus demo - it looks familiar but not massively so. Googling it reminded me of Jazz Jackrabbit, another cracking game.

Wish I had a laptop that I could play these games on, would be a nostalgia-fest!

LOVED Jazz Jackrabbit. Still play that one too - the Christmas levels are part of my yearly festive traditions.

Loved micromachines. Also played Descent quite a bit although I'm not sure we ever finished it. I can't remember which version of Doom my Dad and I finished, but we did! Quite an achievement for us as we were notorious non-completers (still am - see all my hours in Elder Scrolls games without completing).

Used to play strip Wipeout as a teenager (LOL).

Elden Ring DLC trailer out and the bosses look like a big improvement on the base game. Elden Ring not a patch on Dark Souls or Dark Souls 3 with so much cut and paste of design and very few really memorable or truly difficult boss fights (Melania being the exception)

Yes dear, but you'd play Baldur's Gate with a NegCon if you thought you could get away with it.
