I need to go birthday present shopping for my 'daughter in law' with a deadline of 10 30 as we need to get over to son2's in time to catch the 11 30 train in to Exeter so we can meet her for lunch 🙃 Then back to his on the train in time to get the kids to their swimming lessons later this afternoon. I suppose I could count it as a rest day but I don't think it'll feel much like it

I'm heading off to Genova in about an hour - all paid for by their university so I get to travel proper prof style with nice hotels en route. I am staying with in-laws which allows me to stay for a few extra days and eat top notch. Let's hope their trains are more reliable than the British ones (won't be hard) though I am already disappointed by the first class intercity which does not even offer you a cup of tea and a bit of shortbread. Surely a coffee and a piece of focaccia would not be too much to ask?
