Interesting photo ITG - but wouldn't swallows be in Africa now? I was all ready to cycle to and from parkrun but the dog made it plain she wanted to go for her walk sooner rather than later. I therefore walked the dog, then did my planned 30 minute run from home without troubling the bike or the parkrun people. That was actually more to my taste. One of the Cheltenham parkruns was cancelled due to waterlogging and the one still on gets far too crowded anyway. |

No idea, LD. Might be geese. They didn't try to rip out my eyeballs so I am assuming not arctic terns.

ITG ๐ฎ๐ธ That's the way to identify Arctic terns, is it? Not keeping up. Haven't run all week as laid low with a cold. Congratulations to all who have run. |

um
When ITG says 'rip out my eyeballs' she was being polite. They do try to rip out your eyeballs, but go about it through the top of your skull. (If ever you visit The Farne Isles, especially in breeding/egg season, take a hard or very thick hat.) |

Um demonstrates superior bird knowledge on both counts. I've been pummelled by arctic terns and had to abandon a number of runs. I had to hitchhike once out of a particularly terrifying gauntlet and even when rescued thought they might smash through the roof of the car to get to me. Another time, my brain was only spared by a very thick headphoned headband.
