[ Sorry - more travel guides ...
The Old Kirk and Brig-a-doon are also worth a stop (only 10-15 mins, much like the Brae). I never did the Rabbie Burns centre, so can't advise on that, but used to run round and past the kirk and the bridge.

There used to be a fantastic fish restaurant on Troon jetty. They used to keep us waiting until the boat came in, then a frantic hustle of blue crates and 5 mins later they'd tell us what they'd got and how they proposed serving it, unless we wanted it done differently.

I spent a lot of time working in Ayr. ]
