I hope C25k can help! Breaking it all down into manageable chunks instead of focusing too much on the end goal or on what you were able to do 5 years ago is a good way to look at it. My current "challenge" is to go to the gym once a week. Once. If I set the bench at 3 times a week, it will never happen and just make me feel bad about myself for failing. So once. I can do once. |

I too thoroughly endorse doing C25K. I loved doing it. LG, running appears to be making you more and more unhappy. Having had so many issues in the past year i do understand how hard it is to break free from how we perceive ourselves as a certain kind of "runner" after an enforced layoff. C25K gives you permission to start again and throw things up in the air for a while. Quite seriously what do you have to lose? |

Helping at our Beginners course also helps me to get back on track when I’ve fallen off the running wagon, and a lot of our club runners assist for the same reason. Very few people sustain the same level of habit or intensity for a long period of time, most of us need or are forced to take a break at some point and then we just start again. No running for me today, instead I have my first 1 - 1 swimming lesson. I’m rather nervous about it TBH which is daft. I get running coaching all the time and don’t feel nervous about that. |
