I am runless for a few days as having to sort out final bits of a house move so ducking and diving between rental and permanent homes at the mo. Should be finished by end of next week. Hope so because I have Run Silverstone half on the Sunday!

Would it mean skimping on somethig else, getting into debt, or OH losing out on something? If the answers are yes, no, no, and no, you have your answer and don't need OH's permission. Otherwise, save up for a bit which also gives you time to show OH how much you want it and time to change your mind. We can't take it with us and if you don't spend it, it'll just go to pay your elderly care bills in due course. That's what I tell my mammy anyway. I'd rather she spent it now on enjoying herself than Boris and his heirs getting their hands on it.

Could be a different opinion if you were happy mountain/gravel biking, and cycling outside through the winter. I was going to say that you could justify, and then realised that you are a big girl now, and should not need to justify a decision to enjoy life.
