Financial advisor coming to see us this afternoon. Hopefully he can assuage OH's fears of penury once he retires.
'Amusingly' we were jotting down what we spend annually to see what we'll need to be comfortable. When it came to hobbies, OH's bike habits came to a sum something like 1000% more than my running. He wasn't happy at my suggestion that that was where any belt-tightening could start

I don't know how much you spend on running, LD, but ouch for those bikes cost. That is what I call "marriage capital." IF you can afford to let him keep on, that gives you pretty good bargaining power on pretty much any race you fancy - Svalbard, Polar Circle in Kangerlussuaq, Antarctic marathon, Baikal ice marathon... (funny how I can only think of very expensive cold places).
