Managed a little bit of sleep thanks.

ITG it is great that he can talk to you and hope the plan works.

Cant decide whether to go to running club tonight (hill reps) or whether to go out on own. Am not very fit, hills will be very hard but will going push me on or make me feel crap? Might just go out on own for a 3 mile run and then get back to club next week.

Go next week MM, don't want you to overdo it too soon. ;-) I should try a 4 mile run though.

*Wibbles* at the thought of HDS. :-o I'm useless at fancy dress but I'll try hard. I thought I'd get this weekend out of the way before thinking/focussing on HDS though.

I’d run a bit now MM and then go next week, run walk is worth doing for half the run too to make sure you’re properly warmed up

I was hoping I’d get my instructions at Beachy from Fleecy for HDS. My suggestion would be bugs and insects I can do same colour top and leggings and feely boppers and a mesh shell on a running rucksack but I’m open to offers :-)

I totally agree at how great it is my son talks to me about these things. I would never have told my parents either. We are doing something right.

I'm going to suggest to the school that 1) they get at least a basic internet filter! 2) the kids don't get left alone with computers unattended and 3) a 2 week smart-phone ban.

Also that they talk to the class about what happened and why it is completely unacceptable. And scare the hell out of the kids by saying they can trace everything the kids look at under their log-ins. It doesn't have to be true ;)

On other good news, my dr called. He said there was a slight increase in something or other in the blood that could indicate a clot but might equally just be an indicator of the swelling (he thinks of a tendon). He says he would not have been concerned if it had not started on the plane (me neither!) . Since I am better, we agreed to leave it but I am to pay attention and of course go in if there is anything suspicious. I think it was a false alarm and just an unfortunate coincidence of an injury (possibly stress injury - there are A LOT of hills in Nuuk!) that blew up on the plane and additional anxiety because I had started to take an oral contraceptive. But that the three things are not connected in fact.

ITG - if the school cannot trace internet use by user, they need a new IT dept/person. I used to scare people at work by 'sharing' the hours spent on certain sites. (under potential misuse of company assets).
I'd also suggest the school threatens (or does) tell the parents. To a 13 year old, that's probably worse than any other punishment.

I used to find flying made any soft tissue / swelling far worse - and one time had a fairly serious concern. GP & A&E took it seriously until they'd ruled out a clot - then it was back to 'soft tissue/ligament strain - ice, ibuprofen etc' and no priority at all. Since I've retired and stopped the frequent long haul flights, my feet /ankles have been far better.

Definitely doing something right as parents ITG; good luck with the school, and glad to hear the Dr reassuring.
I feel *whispers* slightly better. Have taken the dog for a loggable-distance (ie out of fetchpoint circle) walk and only feel a bit sore and exhausted. I may even attempt lunch later. Only 8 days to squeeze 50 running miles in to maintain my 100 miles a month target...! Hmmmm....

Good point, um, about swelling on the plane. My ankles and feet always swell up so maybe that is why what had been a minor tendonitis went bananas and scared the bejeezus out of me.

About This Thread

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2018 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

Join in the chat on the friendliest thread around - all things discussed and sometimes even some running is talked about.

Next year's spreadsheet can be found here - let's fill it up
