Horrifying scenes from Genoa, and bad news on ITG junior, I hope they can establish how his hip broke and fix it for him.
Run fail today, late home from work and then took Mr L to local pharmacist as he has, I think, a horse fly bite which has swollen up almost the whole way around his thigh, needed something better than Savlon and one a day antihistamine. Will hopefully run tomorrow, am woefully behind the 700 will be lucky to do 400 at this rate.

(((ITG))) - very strange, how that fracture can have occurred. Hope it can be dealt with quickly, and hope your son isn't in a lot of pain with it.
Hadn't seen the news, just been looking, what a terrible accident.

Thanks for the support, everyone. Much appreciated. Need a good sleep (unlikely) and start over tomorrow. Boy is to be in bed/on sofa and use crutches to keep as much weight off the hip as possible. Hoping the dr will call with blood test results in a couple of days. Phew.
The problems are just starting for Genova. That motorway is the main artery from France through Tuscany and a major thoroughfare for transit. It is also the connection from the harbour - one of the biggest in Europe and it serves a vast chunk of Europe, not just Italy. The harbour is likely to lose huge amounts of business - probably to Marseille - and all the through traffic is going to have to go through the over-congested city. There are already traffic jams at peak times; now they will be pretty much constant. The bridge also landed in part on the railway but hopefully that can be fixed a bit more quickly. I'm not sure how bad it is. First of all, it is a human tragedy. But it is also going to be a longterm economic catastrophe for Genova - the port is the only real "industry" it has now as the factories all moved up to Turin.
If there is any "luck" in the story, it is that most of the bridge landed in the river and the rest on industrial buildings, not residential. But two people working underneath appear to have been killed and there will be thousands homeless for the significant future as they have to evacuate everyone under the bridge which is hundreds of metres long and very high so can fall over a pretty wide area. And to top it all, the right-wing politicians are profiteering and blaming the European Union! I guess they couldn't blame the "immigrants" for this one though give them time and I dare say they will come up with something.
Sorry to be such a downer. My inlaws and my brother-in-law and his family are off to Corsica on holiday tomorrow so at least they have a week or so away from it all.

Morning 😁
Dog walk done, greenhouse blitzed and herb garden pruned all before 7.45 am. 😇
Shopping next, followed by housework (been ignored while mum been ill) then massage followed by nails. Busy morning pamper afternoon and then maybe the first outing in the kayak if weather/sea ok 😁
