ITG - I think it's an adjective, not an adverb (this is your friendly local grammar pedant speaking)
Planning a  later, but at present I have someone in and out of the house, installing a new fan in the ensuite. The ensuite is tiny, windowless and enclosed, so it needs a good fan.

[I'm also a grammar pedant, Columba. Fucking can be a participle, a gerund (noun), an adjective or an adverb. In this case, since it was attached to the adjective - hot/cold - it is an adverb.
e.g.
as participle: They are fucking.
as a gerund: Fucking is fun.
as an adjective: Where's me fucking coat?
as an adverb: It is fucking hot.
I may have missed other forms.]

Columba: an adverb can modify a verb OR an adjective. It should be called an adverboradjective but that is a bit difficult to say.
Lemon, if you are going to swear, you have to do it properly.
