Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thank you, lovely people, for all the birthday wishes.

Shan't be eating the cake though, as I've discovered I weigh several lbs more than I did before Christmas :-(
Beautiful Doodle, J*C. - What is the bit that isn't poodle? - My eldest has a labradoodle, whom I haven't met yet but shall soon.

LD - years ago when I was living in Belsize Park (which my flat-mate called "poor man's Hampstead") there were people who swam in Hampstead Ponds every day of the year, including when they were iced over. I saw them; there would be a little patch of clear water, and into it they jumped (or dived), - and the ice nearby thick enough for the ducks to walk about on.

Star - boo to that theory test. It must have got harder in recent years; when my children were taking it, it seemed reasonably straighforward (and when I took it there was no theory test, - the examiner just asked you a few theory questions after the practical bit was done).

Been running. To the lake, once round, a few sprinty bits along the straight side, and back home again. Blue sky and sunshine, felt really good.

5k on the treadmill in the hotel fitness room after lots of walking all over the city today in the freezing cold. Treadmill was too hot, but preferable to ice :-)

fab birthday run Columba :)

I said I'd pay for one theory and 1 practical test each for eldest, Star - he had to pay for the two practicals he failed. Same rules will apply to the other two. Driving is expensive, if they want to drive they need to be earning!

About This Thread

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2016 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

bunting and 700er medals are often spotted around here.

Happy running :-)
