Loca - I don't remember feeling too good afterwards either but I did run 74 mins and come 3rd :¬)
I like my last 20 3 weeks out to have MP in it but not a crazy amount, about 8 miles.

Some good advice here. My approach is similar to yours contro - first five slow, build up to MP and hold 5-15, push the last 5 towards HMP. I find the mental gains from knowing I have so much left over the last 5 when people are fading really help mentally with the last 5 of a mara.
Maybe I'll manage to follow the plan at Oakley this year rather than doing the first 10 sub PMP cos I was yacking away in a group rather than watching my pace
Or I may race Oakley and treat London as a training run, seeing as Windermere is my PB attempt for the year.

Come on Flanker - it's THE marathon, you can't just do it as a training run

Of course there are other marathons. There's the Great North Run! I think that's about half as long as London.

Obviously everyone is different but the more 20 mile races I do, the happier I am on the Marathon day, totally unrelated to this, I have a 20 Mile race handy if anyone wants one
