Yes I completed Boston, just under 5 hours my quickest marathon so far this year! I have had lots of fmail’s for the monthly round up which I will gather together and post later or this evening! I’ve got some work commitments and half term child wrangling getting in the way today along with trying to find a tradesman to fix my broken oven but don’t worry everything is under control! |

May Round Up.... jelly... I started May with my longest ever training run, 60 miles for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and finished the month with Boston Marathon! I clocked up 402 miles of running which is my biggest monthly mileage so far this year I am well ahead of the target mileage, but you never know what is lurking around the corner. June will see me running 2 more 6 hour timed events in Holland on Sea, Go Gadget Go and Oh Crumbs Danger Mouse, with Hare and Tortoise Running, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Chunky Wizard May is seeing increased distance as I ramp up my Endure 24 training. Today’s run should see me above 300km for the month. I’ve also started doing double days with 2x 10milers to get in the E24 groove. All going well so far. This month also saw my first 2 races for what seems like an age. I ran a 10K around Dinton in 42:34 which I was very happy with. Also I ran the Gut Buster, an off-road race usually held in December, which was a 10-miler. I managed 1:21:52, which although it was a couple of minutes off of my best time, I still felt good about. June should see more E24 training and another race or 2! Velociraptor May wasn't a high running mileage month for me because with the longer days and the easing of restrictions I've had more opportunities to ride my bike and go for short hikes in the Lake District. June is likely to be similar. My targets for the month are to explore a part of the country that's completely new to me (Forest of Dean) and to get a 75% age grade at 5k and 10k. Sailor Steve All is well. May has been a month of ticking over just below the required 2000M run rate. This is my attempt at a “down” month in advance of my marathon training schedule starting in June. I have entered the Goodwood Half marathon on 4th July as a bit of a reality check to see where I’m at wrt racing. Looking forward to it. Big_G Ticking over with the general mileage and did a couple of marathons in May, as training for DD at the start of June. I felt unusually tired after the second marathon so had an easy week of just 22 miles following that event, although I did 40 this week and feel pretty good now. Taper week is coming before DD, and I’m hoping the weather is kind (i.e., not too hot, not too cold, not raining, not windy…. ). I’m about 30 miles behind on the 2021 yearly mileage target, but I’m not worried about that at this stage. rossco peeko Streak continues, now on day 402. Also (just) keeping up the 200mi/month streak, for 7 months now. In other news a race - first for 2 years! - Edinburgh 7 hills 27th June. Riggsys99 May - 200 miles most in month this year, Boston (UK) marathon I entered in 2020 then thought I had put back to 2022 but got the number a week before the race this year. Ended up running my second quickest marathon and recorded my fastest Boston time. Good month really! StuH A relatively low 140 miles for May, hampered by a hard fall resulting in bruised ribs and then a traumatic wisdom tooth extraction. I did manage a surprisingly comfortable 51 miles for the Centurion NDW50 though 987/2021 +18% over target. So that's it folks, sounds like most of us have had a pretty decent May, sorry to hear about your fall and extraction StuH, but here we are into June and the sun is shining with the promise of more to come! Thankyou all for your contributions to this months round up! jelly! |
