Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hi Richard-M and Doc, I’ve added/amended your target races.

I’m not sure if I may have missed any target races for anyone else, so if anyone wants any races added please let me know.

Oh, and well done HoD and JK!

I’ve had a pretty busy month so far - although my running is still not going very well really.

Two weeks ago Mr Jenny and I did the Whistle Stop Tour of Wirral, which was great fun - a 5 mile XC on the Friday evening, 8 mile multi terrain on Saturday and the Wirral half on Sunday. We got very lucky with the weather as there was rain on the Friday morning, and on Monday, but we had glorious weather for all three races. Last week, I did a 10,000 metre track race (and got a silver Welsh Championships medal by virtue of being one of only two women who bothered to turn up, so I was both second and last woman!) then ran in the South Wales Road Relays then did the Swansea 10K today. Have races for the next three weekends as well, quite looking forward to a break!

Way down on my mileage from last year, but did at least cross the 1000 mile mark today.

Funky Monkey tells me he thinks it may be time for him to go on his travels again - does anyone want to give a monkey a home for a while?

Yawn...got up at 5am, had breakfast and headed to downtown Ottawa, then hung around until the start. Did 5k then waited a while until the half marathon started. Results for the 5k were somewhat buggered up because of a horrible bottleneck at the finish of the 5k and people doing the 5 + 10k where they were running late for their start.

well done to JK and jennyh
I did my local parkrun this Saturday, I rarely do parkrun as its usually my long run day. my time was ok not brilliant (having been out the night before) but a 68% grading - if I was bothered enough I'd plan to get it up to 70%

jennyh could you please add my races for the rest of the year
28th Sept Tissington half
6th Oct Loch Ness marathon
7th Dec Lanzarote marathon
I think that will do me for this year :)

Hope you're having a lovely holiday, Garfield!

A running rest day. I have developed a cold over the weekend, so I am blaming Friday's poor marathon result on that.

Mr JK is going to make me a curry for tea.

Thanks JK, I'm having a fantastic time here....I love Ottawa (I'm slightly biased as I was born there, lived there until I was 27 before moving to the UK). The winters can be vicious though...and really hot summers with mugginess and biting mosquitoes.

One last grouse about the half marathon...slower runners were shortchanged about a mile at the end...not happy. I have complained to their Contact Us section. I'd like to do it better trained and it could be fun. As it is, I'm not broken and will be able to get out for a joglet today.

jennyh, could you please add St Neot's half to my bar...17th November - thanks in advance! :)

That sound really annoying Garfield, was there a advertised cut-off?

Jenny, I've not really targeted any specific training to it but lacking any other targets can you add my name to Cabbage Patch 10 in October?

Nope...but on the race results now describes it as shortened. Oh and the 5k figures were adjusted because there was a bottleneck at the finish of that...initially they had me down for 40 minutes but that was waiting in queue to be 'processed'. That's been lowered to 37:05. My Garmin I shut off after we'd been standing for a while and 36:25 (which would have been considerably AFTER I would have crossed the finish). Grrrr!

On their side, it's the first year they've run it on this course...brand new course, announced back in June. The run used to be on a similar route to the Ottawa Race weekend's marathon route.
