I decided not to run today as had a few things to. Decided to get a haircut, in case they get closed down again. Next step to the chemist to get a lateral flowtest kit, armed with a collection code on my mobile. Bad news, they had none and didn't know when the next delivery would be☹
Don't give in Steve for next year, but keep the 1000 as your target. That will give you the incentive to keep "plugging away!"

A hardworking mileage yield, geordieclaus, in spite of the barriers facing us all.
Fine buggy pushing sessionm, Lesley
hillstrider, your race training will certainly provide an even sharper focus over the bleaker months.
Two miles more than most of the general population, steve45 Simply setting a target has maintained my will to get out and add to my total: 700 would have been fine - but 1000 will round off the year even more satisfyingly!

I've gone for the billiard ball look, HS. As long as the supermarkets have razor blades I'm sorted, and it helps with the streamlining

Swittle, I just hope that races won't be cancelled again, the way the new virus is wreaking havoc🤞
3Ms, I'm a billiard 🎱 ball on top, but still have some on the sides. My hairdresser is also a runner, but she runs for a different club.
After a couple of phone calls, I was able to locate a chemist that had just received a supply of tests kits. To make up for not running, I parked about a mile away, so that I could walk there and back. 🚶♂️

Another 6 miles this morning, saw one other runner before 7am. That's me boosted now so will rest for a couple of days.
I suspect after Christmas some things might be cancelled. I feel so sorry for the staff in the hospitals, the next few weeks is going to be a nightmare for them.

Thanks hs for the 1000 plug! And thanks swittle, I should thank my lucky stars I can still run.Though I don't need actual incentive having been running (like you hs ) for 43 years. May as well target 1000 and not 700/750, done the 1000 for more years than not! Sometimes even 1300! Trouble is it's taking longer to do my regular runs (slow coach😂) which then eats into my day/other activities. At this age hair isn't what it used to be for me either! We've got about fifty lateral flow tests always handy- wife works in social care and tests three times weekly. 2.5 miles early today while my wife was out on her 12 miler!

Good that you have now been "boosted" Lesley.
My runs also take longer these days Steve.
I'm having second thoughts about doing tomorrow's inaugural parkrun, due to the rapidly doubling of Covid infections.

Inaugural parkruns are hard to judge as can be popular as it’s a “challenge” to do one.
The one I’m going to tomorrow only had 30 something attendees last week.
I feel fairly safe outside.

To my fellow-contemporaries, (i.e. old men) I am still blessed with plenty of hair on top - it grows very thickly, so I'm thick in hair and thick in head!
Today I did intervals on the cycleway - 6x400m.(+ 300m. slow jog RBI). I did them just a little faster than my 5K pace. It's now nearly 2 years since I did a parkrun or other 5k event.

No need for wooly hats in winter then Evangel!
I guess it depends on how many people are heavily puffing on bigger park runs in respect of potential Omicron transmission. I don't do them regardless of covid as everyone already knows. There's a small (30) nearby park run here and another one two miles from there with hundreds where you cannot avoid being close to people. Did my own 5k in the dark this morning. Grumble?!! Yes! A cold east wind!!😂 Hope your park run went ok LL.
