Happy birthday hs, I hope to be half as fit as you at 59, you’re formidable. Hope you’ve had a great day with your sister and friends.

That 💯 is proving elusive Lesley, it will be sweet when you get there. Def important to stay safe.

Donnie if you haven’t connect your watch to fetch and it will do the magic for you.

I joined the horse game and some mad fetchies bet on me to beat my 5k time (I think it’s based on the last xx amount of runs) my number was a very sedate 32.28…. I set off and thought won’t go flat out it’s a long time since I ‘raced’ a time but shocked myself to see a result of 29.02!! So next target a sub 29.

Cousin popped round for a wine at 4.15, left at 8.20 I was asleep by 8.40. Wish my body would catch up!

Happy Birthday @hillstrider

Congrats on the 1000 milestone, @Wabo and @Donnie1.

I was supposed to run 36km today but I couldn’t do it, and I decided to turn around at a point to make it a half distance. It was very humid and hot and I just didn’t have the mental fortitude to do it. I wasn’t up for the battle.

I need to reflect on why I have lost a bit fire in the belly. I have the biggest race of my running life in January and I can’t seem to find the motivation to get the training done. I think this may be in part because I’m not eating very well or sleeping well and it’s a busy time of the year for work and social life. This morning I just had the wrong attitude and felt quite sluggish. I was too focused on the overall distance and I think that played on my mind. I should have been running in the moment, one step at a time.

Hope everyone is well and punching out the miles with as much enjoyment as possible. Take care.

These things happen Jack, roll with it have a couple of easier weeks while the Xmas festivities ramp up and run for the joy in the meantime and get back to some training before your race.

What is it and when?

You can work on your mental strength in the meantime, I take myself through the run mentally, how I prepare for the start line, what I need in my pack (& run with full pack to get used to it) when out I will stop and take things out my bag so I’m familiar with where I’ve stored things and how to access them.

Then how might I feel 1hr in, 4hr in etc. I try to eat inline with aid stations or timed to make what you do on race day feel familiar.

If you know the course mentally take yourself through it - where are the hills, where are the bits that will challenge you, if you can get a foot on it even better.

Running is only a small part of it do what you can without the trainers too.

And starting fatigued is not good so do this stuff in meantime too!

Good luck!

I should run before the storm arrives but I’m still feeling very tired from holiday, I did a longer run yesterday and if I miss my 100 this month so be it. We have to be kind to ourselves and our bodies esp when life gets busier. So today Christmas will arrive in Geordie town

And GB or gb is totally fine Steve for everyone’s sake there’s only one of me and I’m not pedantic

Stay warm safe and dry guys!

Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes 😃. We had a really nice time.

Thanks gb, you are too kind 😃 Yes, we did have a great day, and I had a birthday beer 🍺.

Good luck with your attempt at a sub 29 minutes 5k.

JackFW, I think that we all lose our mojos at times, but more rest days, or reduced mileage usually do the trick.

Gale force winds here in the New Forest region, so all the local parkruns have been cancelled. Instead, I did a 3.68 miles run with Mike, on roads. It was great with the tail winds, but punishing into the head winds. Thankfully, the rain held off.

You did well hs in the wind. Good advice there from gg/gb and hs Jack. Overtraining is sometimes a factor when you start to feel the way you do.
No way today in Wales that serious running could happen this morning or early afternoon, the gale was the worst I've experienced here and I think we were fortunate to have had no damage on our house/garden. A lot of fallen trees in the Cardiff area where I am.
So did a single mile at 6.30 pm just to get out! Felt like a Sunday here, we had the siren warnings on our phones yesterday evening which was a first.

Some days are like that @JackFW I'm sure the next run will be better.
Well done for your 5k GG I'm sure you can manage that further improvement you want.
We were lucky weather wise this morning hillstrider but it's gradually got worse from mid morning onwards.
Continuing your streak @steve45 well done for braving the weather this evening.
We went out mid morning and got back this afternoon and batoned down the hatches. I don't expect to be leaving the house again until I go to work tomorrow afternoon.
