Some strong totals already! 15.5/100 for me after a really enjoyable parkrun - nice steady run with plenty in the tank to sprint for the finish. Found myself towing round a chap who was going for a PB and was slightly put out that I was finding it far easier than he was. He then asked how old I was at the end and was even more put out that I was the same age as him - think he'd been consoling himself with the idea that I had youth on my side

Aw! Poor guy! I once chatted to someone during a particularly tough half marathon about my running. He was wasn't impressed when I mentioned I was a 50 year old with a resurfaced hip! I think he had to work to make sure he was ahead of me by the end of the race.

Sounds like you gave him some good motivation Ness Just checked the results and this chap did get a PB so hopefully he's happier now. It's always nice to help someone get round a bit quicker if I can - that's far better than a couple of our regulars who have to turn every single run into a race and make a big deal each week about who they beat.

I forget how just "doing" a marathon is quite impressive to some not running people! I might "do" a marathon next year, as a tourist visit to a European town or something. Not set myself any time target, not train properly with long runs or tempos or marathon pace runs. Just do it! For training I'm more interested in trying to get quicker at 5K. Might even like to try doing some masters track racing. Is there a "season" for that? Is it mostly over summer? I should go and haunt the "Track Fetchies" thread again! G |

Lots of posts to catch up on I’ll go and do it but seeing lots of great mileages, in meantime I do 8m in London Town not the big run I planned as we all decided to meet for breakfast. And a run this morning brings me to 40/100. Feeling very low on energy think my non decision making has took it out of me and when I thought I had it all sorted they are potentially throwing a curve ball… watch this space on Tuesday. |
