Agent Orange This is the official time. My watch time was 1.43.36, for a 23 second PB and 186th place out of 452 runners. The day started unpromisingly and the first part of the race was into a headwind. But I felt I paced myself really well and was able to push on when I thought I might be slowing. Splits of about 51.25 and 52.11 and my strongest finish for a half-mara. A good Fetchie contingent and special thanks to MoaT and SF for cheers, cake and excellent company. Gobi DO NOT BET, THIS IS THE DAY AFTER A 6HR TRACK RACE .
I will run as hard as I can but expect to run around 2 days !!!!!!!

Oh my god !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2hrs sleep off a night shift. Felt tight jogged to start stretched and thought I'll just run got in a zone on pace and kicked arse.

How fast can I run if I taper for a half ???

Interestingly watch people work far too hard in the wind and pay later including Rach and Kev. I moved smoothly through the field and finished 19th Cannock & Stafford AC 1:13:26 1:14:23 2:00:00 1:23:02 70.45

Keefy Beefy Good race! Met some Fetchies and PB'd. Course was flat but we ran into gusting winds for the first 6 miles. After that the going was easier with the wind on our backs till the final mile. Happy with my time and the mug but also found out my mum had bought me the commemoratve t-shirt that features my name. Aww! Will have to wait for the official time but I was late for the start and had to jump in at the front alongside Gobi and Rach, so watch time should be accurate ;o) Unaffiliated 1:30:00 1:30:29 1:40:00 1:38:57 58.59

MarkC Right, I'm not mucking about this time. It's high time I got a new half marathon PB and here's where I'm gonna do it. :-)
UPDATE. Knocked almost 9 mins off my PB! Fell straight into target pace of 7:30 per mile and stuck to it for the first 8 miles, then pushed it a bit from there. Progressively faster over the last 4 miles. Wind was tricky in places but otherwise good conditions. Probably my best-paced and most disciplined run ever. Very pleased. Now where's that beer? Good to meet keefybeefy, and the usual gang. Unaffiliated 1:32:59 1:37:20 1:40:00 1:37:20 60.35
Rach E This was my first half marathon last year and I should definitely improve on the time I ran here before. I will be going for a pb but this may depend on how windy the course is this year!! ***UPDATE*** Apologies for those who bet but I was beaten by the wind today. I pushed it too hard in the first six miles and paid in the last three miles. I also got bad ab pains in miles 10-13 and had to stop lots to try and relief pains. BUT I am very pleased with my performance today considering the conditions and I am barely off my PB set at Wokingham in much better conditions. I came third lady overall (and got a CHEQUE!!!) and second senior lady. Also third Oxfordshire lady in Oxon half mara championships. 3 miles: 18:55; 4 miles: 25:29; 5 miles: 32:15; 6 miles: 38:53; 10 miles 1:05:55. This shows how much I faded in last three miles. Running Fish wasn't sure about making this race having aggravated a knee injury a while back and conssequently not been able to do anything longer than 9 miles for the past 5 weeks. in the end knee felt ok during the race, but struggled with effort from 10 miles in.

time is a pb, beating best form 15yrs ago during first running incarnation, but there's a least a minute to come out of that if the prep had been right, and a little less windy. Unaffiliated 1:18:35 1:22:23 1:22:51 73.31

Ultra Sparkly Bridget (USB) Very pleased with this one, managed a pb by 7 minutes despite the gusty wind that seemed to chang diection every time I turned a corner. Buckingham & Stowe RC 2:00:57 2:12:50 2:20:00 2:14:50 50.85
Yellow Fang I was hoping for a PB and to get under 1:25, but it all went wrong. I think I started off too quick, partly because I didn't want to let Rach get too far ahead. The first three miles were in about 6:20. Then I started to tire. The wind was quite strong, which didn't really help. I got to six miles in 39 minutes something and nine miles in just under an hour. I knew a PB wasn't on then. I started to tire quite badly after that, which wasn't helped my the big blisters on both feet. Still, it is my 2nd best time for a half.
