Fat Boy A navigational error cost me dearly on the hill stage of the Tour. I was well placed at the foot of the climb but opted to follow a local runner on the steep but direct climb to the summit. It proved costly as we both lost around two minutes on this section compared to those who opted for the defined route. Managed to make up a few places on the descent but will have slipped well down the field in the overall standings after stage 3 of the 6 races.

SueW If I'm lucky!
That'll do - again. Deliberately started a bit slower and felt the benefit. Could have been nasty at the end with someone blocking the finish funnel. I may be slow but it's a down hill finish for goodness sake and it's impossible to run to the finish line and stop dead! Move out of the way!

Fae Fife Boy that was hard! Legs were dead on the way down and struggled to stop at the finish but chuffed with my time as I had no idea what to expect on a hill race.

Dan1006 I made an initial mistake in not getting away fast enough and the narrow trail didn't allow me to make progress. By the time the path opened up enough I was too far off the front group.
My second mistake was to not make more of an effort in the scrambling up the Hill department. I feel as if I was too casual in my approach to it and despite a fantastic return journey, I left myself with too much to do.
