SimonF Extrapolated time shown as per the official results. I was stopped after 50 miles and 16hr 45mins at Park Rash checkpoint when the race was cancelled. Still felt good at that point - not sure I'd really have taken 5 hours to do the last 9 miles.

WACA Just over 17 hours. Very tough conditions of strong headwinds, aprox 30 mph generally, gusting 70 mph daytime, despite the nice sunshine were at the same time warming our backs and freezing our fronts. Conditons deteriorated as the sun went down and how Richard managed on post sub 3 marathon legs I'll never know. In the dark the conditions it got very serious with wind chill factors of -10C + and gusting goodness knows what with horrizontal hail and snow hypothermia was a constant threat. Rich man'd it out bravely but on frozen boggy ground, in fog and at height in these conditions it was very serious. GPS critical, what a lifesaver. We had every stitch on and it was a battle, understandably our pace was now a walk and we just wanted to get off the hill and finish, which we finaly did at about 2.30 am. As we were finishing the race was suspended due to terrible conditions and people from all over bussed back to the finish, many with varying stages hypothermia. I managed some pasta with sauce and a hot dog, a nice hot shower and a 40 minute massage (awesome), getting to bed at 4.15-4.30, getting up at 6.30 for b'fast and heading home. What a day! Well done to organisers, volunteers, helpers, masseurs (just bril), what a job, hellsman more like:-)
