Firestarter Not the nicest of conditions today, a gusting wind and drizzling rain made the course more challenging than usual. It's also more hilly than I'd remembered and the last climb back out of Peckleton village was a bit of a

ThorntonRunner Disappointed not to get the sub-40, but satisfied with my performance. I think I ran the race well, and would probably have got the sub-40 without the high winds - but it is near/at the limit of my current capabilities.

JovialGnome Delighted with PB in adverse conditions but oh my kingdom for one second! And re. the distance controversy, I run my Garmin in kilometres and I clocked it at exactly 10.00k!!! Having since done Silverstone 10k this course was definitely short!!

Ally2 New PB first 6 k were windless and undulating, felt fine and back 4 included tough climb at 8k and dodgy km markings into strong headwind. Slowed in tougher 2nd 5 but overall pleased. 1k: 3:14, 3k 9:57, 5k 16:36 8k 26:06 (short!) 9k 30:56 (compensate short 8- 4:50km is warm up pace!). Came 5th overall.

Boycie I don't like this race for a number of reasons:

1. It is described by the organizers as

Racin Snail should get another p.b here. Almost did it at Markfield(which is a much harder course by all accounts) 5 weeks ago since when i have done 5 hard track sessions and some quality training, and knocked almost 3.5 minutes off my 5 mile p.b! Feeling good.
Super dooper:-) well pleased with that. Quite a testing course in some nasty headwinds in some places with a good long hill to test us at the end.
Closest yet to JL and Boycie(and Ally2;-)) and my second sub 6 mmp race. 37th place but a better quality field than wolvey so still good. More to come too:-)
Thanks again for the bets!

ross52477 Pleased with a PB today given the conditions. Roll on the 'sunny' summer league. Well done Jo, Nige and James :)
Update - after reading the other comments on the race, it seems like the couse is short. No PB for me then :(. Here here with regard to Boycies' comments.

Deanomite Yey, a new P.B. in terrible weather! Really pleased with this one as I ran it well form the start. I faded in the last mile as it was uphill into a strong headwind.
