_andy Note to self: beach running is stupidly hard work. As is running most of a race with soaking wet feet, especially with bits of sand in the shoes too after the section of paddling around the Black Rock itself. As for the soft sand at the top of the beach, followed by the killer hill immediately after... my legs though they might just stop working then and there. Mind you, it was brilliant fun and I had a great evening out. Held back a wee bit for the final vertical hill to the finish line and finished strong. Time is just over 30 minutes, but I forgot to stop the watch until leaving the very top of the funnel at the main road - official time given as 30:13, so there's a target for next year: sub 30 minutes. Great to meet IanS, Tigger and Dyslexik.

Baza Brilliant event, mind and wear old shoes. Good social afterwards too. If I'm on the ball 28 mins is feasible at the moment.*UPDATE* Brilliant run, felt good most of the way, struggled the last half mile and I only looked at my watch as I finished, honestly didn't think I was breaking 28mins, but glad to have done it given the amount of bets you all put on me. Right calf was a bit tender afterwards and I think thats down to the sand being softer in places this year and the ridges, a few beers in the Ship Inn afterwards numbed the pain....lol well done everyone

Fat Boy Cracking and very unique race. Pleased with run followed by a nice couple of beers in the Ship Tavern afterwards. Good turnout of 30 club members from Carnegie Harriers with our leading runner placing 4th in 23.27!

PentlandPounder Was hacked off this morning, that I forgot to bet on myself, but quite glad now - still happy with the way it went. Felt good, and sprinted up that wee hill at the end. Satisfying chippy afterwards, a few beers, and good company, a fine way to spend a Friday night. Missed the photo tho.

Steve69 Got cramp in my calf as I was about to get onto the beach. Struggled on anyway and was extremely happy to get home in 45 minutes. The race was well organised and over a fantastic course. The weather was great too. I look forward to running next year and taking a significant amount off my time.

SueW Looking forward to a jaunt to the beach. No intention of pushing the pace. I'm here for the beer! And I'll probably be last to arrive! **UPDATE** Well as predicted I arrived with 5 minutes to spare and my warm up was the run down from teh car to teh start! Great fun. Ran it nice and steady with a club mate. She ran her marathon 5 days ago and I was 12 days ago! Not an easy course at all. I probably would be cursing it if I'd really raced it. Felt strong on teh uphills and took at least 6 peoiple on teh last hill.
