Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I got a puncture earlier this year on the trainer earlier this year, put it down to a bad inner tube unless my family were putting nails down LOL!

A better Alpe today; 67:00, which still is a long way off others, but the improved seat location (1cm up and 1cm forward) I think is helping. Cramped in calf with 100m to go though.

Pacing wasn't great though - about 230w to half way, about 200 thereafter, but that's a useful thing to know.

Yes, it's basically a sit and grind as I don't get any physical cues to do anything different, unlike I would do on a real road, or a smart trainer (I think). Really noticeable how a few watts makes a big difference to pace though.

Should I be mixing it up a bit more?

I climb on rhythm but have a watt bike so respond to the course

However I also sometimes just use 1 gear

No smart trainer here either but the slow down is noticeable on the ramps and that spurs me on.

Try and keep minimum 10kph or so if you want to work harder on the ramps.

Though at around an hour, it's a great constant effort sweet spot session too.

Haven't been up it quicker than 65mins this year - expect you'll be passing me soon Larks.

Silly Q then, is there a way of calculating given the power you can hold / gradient / distance how long a climb would take?

I’m thinking if it takes you guys an hour for the Alpe, it would take me 2h+ easily (that wouldn’t be me riding hard but....) I like Zwifting and I’d like to do the road to Sky route.

I know this isn’t the right place, but I’m just back in from taking my road bike out on the road for the first time this year. Now that it’s free from the shackles of the turbot. Happy days!! :)

The PoD is probably best placed to give you an intelligent answer. I think there is a way of guesstimating based on w/kg output.
