Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Better or worse that TR Greps?

From your post I assume you think its better than TR? as in TR makes you go a bit too hard?

TR I've felt that I'm just beasting myself - so I might just as well be racing or riding with a chain gang. The Zwift stuff feels like controlled effort - and that seems 'right'.

I tried the FTP builder sessions. As an inexperienced turboist I was worried about the sessions being too hard, but I found them very manageable, though they get gradually harder. I sometimes shorten the long warmups as it feels way too easy at the beginning. By the later efforts I am feeling it, but can generally achieve targets, and know that I've had a good workout. That was after using the short FTP test to set my FTP, I'd never done an FTP test before.

I'm enjoying doing a bit more racing on Zwift; I find it's a good way of getting an interval workout in without the stress of having to hit numbers on 4 minute intervals. I've just looked at my file this morning from a race and it is pretty much 8 x 2 minute intervals at about 120% FTP with two minute hardish recoveries. A cheating "over under" session, if you like. I find half an hour flies by when you're racing.

I saw you on some Zwiftpower results this week Greg and that tickled me.

Once I get a bit fitter, I think Ill possibly race once per week... it's definitely a mega workout. Last one wiped me out for a week, but then I am in v poor shape at the moment. Need to work out my FTP and do some Trainerroad work.

You can do an FTP test on ZWIFT or, since it isn't used in the races, set it to something really low then race and ZWIFT will treat it as an FTP test and adjust you upwards.

I have noticed the past twice I've ridden Zwift has moved my FTP... I'm not sure what its using to gauge that though. Surely a repeatable FTP test is a better way of doing it??

Zwift have never moved my FTP. Does that mean it's actually realistic?

A repeatable FTP test is more controlled and massively less realistic.
