it's a good sign for a runner if people say you look thin! Don't worry about it and do what feels right.

so they say vrap!
actually I'm really pleased how quick I am going now given that I have a BMI of close to 25. i'd just like to get it closer to 20 and be quicker still. I'm not sure that going to the gym helps lower the weight exactly, although the real culprit could be the ice cream in the freezer, plus my habit of eating cheese and crackers before my evening run. Stopped the beer now though!

hann, i'm sure you know it's important to eat lots to fuel your running. you obviously have a good diet but dont slack on the carbs otherwise you running will suffer. (not to mention tour health!) my BMI is 19 so i have to be careful to eat enough, if i jump meals often i feel it when i try to do workouts, on the 'plod' it isn't so noticeable. people think it's great to be thin but that's not always true

I agree Penpen, I really have to m ake sure I eat enough, and enough with the amount of running and cycling and yoga teaching I do is one hell of a lot! Skip one meal and I loose a kilo!!! I also very easily feel under-fuelled, so really have to keep up the carbs and protein... and I am a veggie, so that makes for some very healthy and conscious diet choices...

My body fat percentage is 13 (properly measured not with scales), which is low, but the ideal for men for competition purposes is 8-10%. However, I don't see where this 13 per cent is hidden. Has anyone here had theirs measured at 8-10%?

Can't compare boys and girls but BMI 19 sounds too low Penpen. I'm at BMI 22 and it's too low for sure. Everyone I know says I lost too much. My visceral fat is 8 according to the scales. I am finding that the Body Fortress protein drink is helping stabilise things though, as veggie I was finding it difficult to get enough protein. At least I seem to have stopped losing (and stopped losing muscle mass too). I know being lighter is definitely helping running as I can keep motoring on steep hills when many around me have slowed right up but I think putting some healthy weight back on would be good. Oh well can't have it both ways.
