I got a two today. Scoredle told me I had 16 options, yet only 5 or possibly 6 were words I recognise

I got lucky with such a small sample and the first one I saw was the answer.

Interesting theory! The NYT does though seem to have suppressed many words which could cause offence to or act as triggers for many people, so don’t bet the house on one of those! 😀

Yes I think it’s unlikely given the power of the religious right not they’d read the NYT anyway.

I reckon my first option is inoffensive enough so I might give it a whirl as it’s a decent enough option for a starter

Hard mode, where any found letters must be re-used on subsequent guesses: all well and good but the quid pro quo should be that if you inadvertently repeat the placing of a yellow letter, it should warn / stop you.

Or is it just me that does that with annoying regularity?

I’ve had that too Fitz. Sometimes it helps when you are just trying to exclude letters, but hard mode should be hard mode :-)
