I agree to some extent as it is in common usage, but in the examples you given the abbreviation has very much superseded the origin and, in the case of pram, is a corruption. Carriage has a very different meaning these days, and is archaic in use, as is autobus (in English). Photograph and photo are used interchangeably with photo being very much a shorthand for the full word.
Also, none of your words have 5 letters

lol!
I thought bus was short for omnibus?
In the modern dictionary photo is a noun in it's own right - although agree photograph is still in use.

I'm the opposite. Although the spelling grates, I accept that this is an American game therefore uses American spellings.

People commonly say or write it, and without anything to indicate its origins (like hyphens or apostrophes) so I suppose it gets in a (non-prescriptive) dictionary.

I wouldn't object to FRIDGE in Worgle & feel the same about PHOTO. It's a contraction in common use.
There are some weird words which turn up in the multiples. RALPH, for example.

I don’t know if you’ve seen this poll, but personally I think anything other than “just me and the Wordle grid” is not right.

I'm unable to get onto Wordle today - it keeps saying that I'm off line (which I'm clearly not). Will have another go later I guess
