Interesting mix of puppies and owners at tonights puppy class... I will blog when I have the strength.

Apparently I must not let him bite my feet or my trousers.... FFS! Obviously I love having a dog hanging off my leg all day :)

'Teach him "Off" with a pulley toy! Considers self chastised.....

Oh dear D. Talk about stating the obvious.

I am waiting for local classes to start. They said to watch my inbox for an email giving dates. Ernie is such a fast learner but I can't help worrying that I am doing it all wrong.

When I went to our original classes I was similarly told off for the way we arrived at class and was told to teach Wanda to sit at the door of the building so she wouldn't drag me excitedly across the room to see all her friends.

So we sat at the door, I went through first, perfectly just as we had been asked .... then she dragged me across the room at breakneck speed ... :-)

I doubt you're doing anything too awful. Ernie sounds lovely.

In these early days my understanding is that they need to socialise, and learn about different things. We put a lot of effort into people, but forgot about traffic and bangs. If I were able to go back and do things differently that's what I would add to the mix.

Charlie - and all the other pups - still belts across the room to say hello to his doggy pals when we first get to training. And that's after 18 weeks of it! He somehow managed to pass Silver level on Tuesday evening. He'd tried the week before but messed up the "stay for 60 seconds without moving" and was reluctant on the send to bed bit. But he did them both perfectly this week :-) Sadly we won't be doing the Gold course as they've moved it to a Monday which is my band practice night.

If you work out how to stop Indi biting your trousers, do share D2. Charlie hardly ever does now, but when the mood takes him no amount of "Off"-ing helps! It's actually shoelaces he tends to go for.

Wanda sounds like a character. I can't imagine many puppies would have the self control to not go bonkers in a room of other puppies mind.

Well done Charlie.

We are already working on socialisation by going out every day. Still have to carry him but we've been to post office, my office, pets at home, vet, high street and in a couple of shops. There hasn't been a chance to be near a busy road. He's now met the neighbours on both sides plus some others from around about. He barked madly at next door's dog until I said hello to Bisto which gave him confidence. We are all desperate to get out properly now though.

Today we borrowed a friends garden again. He stuck by me most of the time as we explored. I think this will give me confidence when it comes to walks in the big, bad world.
