I'm sure you would rather rehome directly to a new family without the dog ending up in kennels in the meantime and I don't know how close to a Battersea Centre (there's one at Old Windsor and another in Kent) you are but if you are close enough to consider them, they do have the staff and resources to assess dogs and assess new owners. I genuinely don't think they will let a dog go to someone who falls in love with it on their website if they don't believe it is the right home, in order to free up a kennel/reduce the feed bill. The downside is, that kennels (however much they try) can be a miserable place for some dogs (especially those who don't kennel well) in the meantime

What a sad story Helegant. I do hope you can find somewhere soon and the new home is her forever home.

Our attempt at the Gold Test was foiled by a fly this morning. The fly (or it might have been a bee) was buzzing around in the grass near Wanda for the return to handler's side and walk free at handlers side exercise. It needed to be despatched before she returned to my side and then as we walked near that spot again she had to go back and make sure it was really dead If only I had spotted it before I sat her down I could have ... er... dealt with it before she noticed it |

No you only get one go at each exercise unfortunately. We had, of course, practiced it before the examiner arrived and hadn't put a paw wrong. The other three taking their Gold with us all passed though - one on the third time of trying (and he must have only just scraped a pass on the road walking element from what I saw!) |

Of all the elements of the test I would have thought that was the one she was most practiced at, we do a little bit of return to handlers side and walking loose at my side every morning on the playing field. If I was going to fail I'd have predicted it being on almost any other element but that. Still.. these things happen... just because the dog can do it doesn't mean they WILL do it.....

That's really bad luck Baroness and a little harsh, in my opinion
