Morning! Maybe there's a grass seed or something like that causing Charlie's ear problems Alice? I hope the vet can sort it out once and for all. As a child I had a prolonged period of earache (it turned out to be a very deep seated abcess) which I remember as being utterly miserable.
Flossie has been up to her usual tricks and ate a cranberry and cashew loaf I'd forgotten to put away followed by an out of date strawberry yoghurt left well back by the food recycling bin. *sigh*
On a positive note, yesterday we met an old black Lab who coughed a bit, much like Bella. He was thin but not excessively so, and was happy to play with Floss and Lily. Turns out he has lung cancer! He was diagnosed last November but his owner said she thought he'd developed it well before that. That all sounds much like Bella, and it gave me hope that maybe she will last, happily, for longer than we first thought. My sister says the only real change is that they don't go for quite such long walks now.

Fingers and paws crossed here for Bella
I had to laugh at Flossie's antics - but a cranberry and cashew loaf does sound rather delicious. I came home the other day to find a shredded plastic bag (one of those from the supermarket for vegetables) in Wanda's bed, but no evidence of what it might have contained. I'm guessing it was probably one we'd used for dog treats that hadn't been put away after a walk - at least I hope that's what it was

Excellent work by Floss!
Perhaps you heard the news snippet on the radio this morning criticising the use of sniffer dogs at airports. Apparently they’ve uncovered hardly any class A drugs but they have been really good at finding cheese and sausages.
They must have been labs!

They were gorgeous spaniels Sharkie! And yes, hardly surprising
I've just dropped off Charlie I'm a bit nervous and the house seems very quiet. Apart from a squeal when they stuck the thermometer up his oojabackary he seemed fine about being there. The hardest bit was not feeding him this morning. He got quite frustrated that he couldn't make me notice I'd forgotten. He almost got Mini's pack up off the kitchen counter (thought of Flossie) but despite him managing quite a high jump it was still just out of reach, luckily.

I'd squeal too if someone stuck a thermometer there to be honest.... especially if nobody had thought to feed me before hand
Hope it all goes OK

Thank goodness we don't possess a sunlounger otherwise I think someone would be up early in the morning draping her towel over it to reserve it....

Thanks for your good wishes everyone. If I'd had any doubts about whether I'd really wanted a dog, today has dismissed them. I'm feeling quite lonely!
