Totally gratuitous pic of Jess on her walk today. I'm not there!

Jess says thank you but she is worried she looks a bit fat in this pic, because the decking is the same colour as her fur. She is really quite a lean dog with a very definite waist.

Winter coat still though!

Yes I think her luxurious coat adds to her hugeness - not that I meant it in the sense of 'overweight' but more 'overall stature' :-)

She weighs about 31kg - about the same as Floss I imagine.

It's all muscle she says!

Floss was about 27kg last time she was weighed. I think Bella's probably about that now although she looks bigger because her undercoat is much much thicker than Floss'. For some reason, none of our black Labs have ever had the fluffy fur that my sister's yellows have.

It's why most of the dog hair I'm forever hoovering up is white and not black ;-)

Black labs (as long as they're not complete puddings!) do look sleeker than the yellow ones

Jess has filled out and got even stronger over the past year. I'm quite glad there's a bit more heft on her haunches (so to speak) as I assume it means she's stronger and more stable there. Always a worry about the back legs thing.

I've sort of approached it by trying to build up her strength like you would a human if that makes sense. Agility ie jumping very gradually, lots of walking and running on different surfaces - and encouraging her to chase her tail in BOTH directions .Which she does.

Does she have a training programme stuck to the fridge Sharkie.. eg Monday - chase tail clockwise 90 sec, rest 30, 60 sec rest 30 repeat anti clockwise x 4

Tuesday - sprint reps down the garden x 10

Wednesday - hill work, walking

and so on..... :-)
