We’ve been in Portsmouth over the weekend visiting my son, DIL and new baby granddaughter. We took Luna for a beach walk but she’s not entirely sure about the sea. She did love spectating at parkrun though. |

Lovely Luna 😍 My old dog loved the beach, but never took to the sea. Current dog frickin' loves the sea! Jumps over waves chasing pebbles etc. She might just need time if it's a new experience. |

Our Wanda (part Staffy) would bark at the sea as it came in - be thrilled that this made it immediately retreat and then be horrified as it came back at her again. After a few minutes of this she thought she would really teach it a lesson and bite it if it came to close but the sea never seemed to learn... ![]() |

HappyG(rrr) wrote: Hi dog lovers. I was just checking in for a bit of tea and sympathy. Our wee terrier is on her last legs, unfortunately. She is 11 year old Parson Russell (like a Jack Russell but longer legged). She was diagnosed with cancer (lympathic) in January, had 4 months of chemo, to which she responded well, and has been pretty well since June. But a couple weeks ago she started being sick again, and looked in pain. Vet trip, and they couldn't find anything else, so suspected it was the cancer back. My wife and I agreed we wouldn't do the chemo again, because even though it gave her another few months, it really was pretty rough on her (2-3 days sick out of the 7 day treatment cycle). So it's just going to have to take its course. She's on lots of medicines just to make her comfortable, and she has been OK for a week, but even that is now not helping. So it might be quite close to decision time. Just a bit sad. Well, that's her gone now. She lasted 3 years after that cancer and chemo. The illness then turned out to be me feeding her badly (and partly the weakened organs from chemo). But she was right as rain for last 3 years. But last few weeks she'd got very thin, the lumps from the lymphoma showing and then some bouts of blindness and deafness as the lumps were putting pressure on nerves. She was mostly perky, eating loads, but the blindness and deafness was getting worse and really distressing her, and us of course. So today we had to say goodbye. RIP Amy dog, always our puppy. x |

Aww, found this one from a couple weeks later:Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr) Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr) 12:32pm, 13 Dec 2021 We've had an extra Christmas present. Just back from University Vet Hospital oncology. ...basically scan clear, no growing tumours, still in remission, sickness and pain was pancreatitis, which is easily manageable through diet and pain relief. Yay! And oncology specialist says there is a small chance (10%) that she will survive a year or more. ![]() |
