😁 he is, isn't he? He's my perfect beautiful boy.
The brindled idiot is also quite pretty, but she's in the dog house for eating a load of lawn fertilizer and being sick all over the patio and in front of the shed door 😡
Luckily it was organic stuff without any realty nasty ingredients, and all seems to have bounced straight out. She was able to keep breakfast (and, more importantly, her anti seizure medication) down OK.
Now we just have a patio that smells of dog vomit, even after a good hosing down.

Bit worried about Maisy’s ear. The wound has opened up in the middle of the line of stitches. Took her back to the vet who said that it’s because they had to take such a wide area of skin out, the stitches can’t hold the skin together. Will therefore have to leave it open. We have to wash it out with saline and an antiseptic then fill the home with antibiotic cream twice a day. Will obviously take longer to heal and looks awful. I’m flying back to the UK for a week on Monday so Mr Woo will be looking after it on his own. Whilst he is perfectly capable, I’m still going to be worrying a lot. Maisy seems completely unphased and is obviously not in pain.

Ouch! And Yuck!
I’m not good with medical stuff and I’m not sure I’d be able to handle an open wound. Poor pup, sounds awful xx

I'm sorry to hear about Maisy's wound but I'm sure it will be fine. Why do I say this? Because I had something similar with my C section scar (prompting the midwife to say, when I went in to have baby no 2, 'Who on earth did this??' ) and it was fine. Doesn't stop you worrying though xx

Personally I'd aim to keep the wound bed moist and disturb it as little as possible, so would skip the saline rinse and just keep it well topped up with a wound gel or silver spray.
Obviously the vet has seen the actual wound though so probably knows best, just speaking from experience of healing open wounds (including open stitched wounds) on the mad thoroughbred. With an open wound cells have to kind of migrate across to start the healing process and once in place are very delicate and easily disturbed so washing out can be counterproductive unless there is actual active infection present.
She will be fine, SarahWoo! Wounds always look so much worse as they are healing than they actually are. I definitely found they look worse before they get better as well!

I have hill envy.
Hope Maisy continues to be unbothered by the ear thing, SW.
It's so often the case that they have no idea of the stress they're putting us through, but I guess that's for the best really.
