I'm glad Sorcha's not the only dog who lies with her head and 'shoulders' on the floor and the rest of her body in the (incredibly comfy memory foam) dog bed.... I am so in love with running with her. Why did it take me this long to get a dog??
Here's a shot from this morning's run - she's used to stopping to pose for me on demand now and working the angles. It's like being out with a more easy-going Heidi Klum.

Found our first lost tooth yesterday. Do dogs have a tooth fairy? (Question from 4-year old niece)

Another walk with the Labradoodles that was hard work but on the whole fairly successful. The older one, Hattie (she's 3) is pretty good now at ignoring 'triggers' like other dogs but still not 100%; the younger one, Freya, (15 months) requires full-on attention and most of the time she can be got past triggers without launching into hysterics. But it's not a relaxing or enjoyable walk for the human!
But at least Freya is no longer hiding behind sofas indoors, and she greets me quite happily when I come into a room, so that's progress. Tomorrow will be a challenge as the workmen arrive for the next stage of the bedroom refurb - not sure how she'll cope with that!

Grrr. was walking Chester today when a black lab off the lead came bounding over to us. he ran away screaming (never really heard him do that, poor thing was terrified). the dog leapt up on me, covering me in dirt and water as it had just been in a stream (well- a drainage ditch. lovely). leapt all over Chester and just about flattened him- I couldn't even pick him up to get him out the way because the dog was all over me.
eventually one of the owners- a kid- came over and tried to get the dog to come. "she's just very excited". zero control and zero concern.
Chester is now really subdued and i just hope it doesn't affect him long term and that he wasn't hurt (looks like he's moving normally thankfully)

That's very annoying Metro_N and it's also a concern for me with having a young puppy who is just building his confidence.
It's the same round here, one or two kids always getting dragged round the streets by big dogs because their parents can't be bothered to get off the sofa!

I've got a question regarding dog walking. If we take Ruby somewhere in the car and then for a walk, although she does take a while to get going, preferring just to sit, when we try and take her out in our road a) she doesn't want to go and b) she won't walk unless it is back indoors.

I remember Charlie being like that when he was very little. We were advised to take him out and carry him if necessary, until he got used to the road noise etc.

I don't know the right answer to that Dio, but I would say that she's very young so it may be a bit of anxiety - 'home' is secure and you're taking her away from it! Whereas if you take her in the car that link in her mind has cleared away.
I know she's old enough to go for a walk now, but she's still very little - is the guidance something like 5 mins walk for every month of age? - maybe she's finding it all a bit much.
Have you taken her out for 'a carry' at all? Before our dogs had had their second set of vaccinations we used to go out every day to carry them round the neighbourhood so they got used to the sound of traffic and things like that. Ruby's still small enough to do that with. It might help?
