PenW that's how we have interpreted it. Dog walks are separate to 'exercise' and are not necessarily done for pleasure/leisure. For example our neighbour has to take his dog out at least three times a day because the dog won't toilet in their garden.
We also think that driving to a quieter location 5 minutes drive away to walk her will be OK because it's best that Wanda doesn't meet every kid and dog in the village on her walks as she finds such situations quite stressful (or to put it another way gets called 'one of those nasty dogs that shouldn't even be allowed to walk near a playpark' by some of the less charming locals!)

That makes complete sense Baroness and I'd hope any police officer you might encounter would agree.

Chester currently has more energy than we can "safely" exercise out of him without worrying about causing damage to his wee joints. we do mental stimulation stuff at home (training plus he has all kinds of puzzle games) but it doesn't really work.
so what has been working well the last week or two has been driving him somewhere for a walk, doing his allowed 20/25 mins, and driving him home. the additional stimulation and time of the car journey makes a big difference.
with the new lockdown I've agonised over this. after much soul searching and reading of the guidance (which is different in Scotland- we are allowed to drive 5 miles outside of our council area border for exercise for example, though not supposed to go further than is required to exercise safely while socially distancing) I decided I could justify continuing this approach, though probably not every day.
so this morning I drove to a nearby park (only a 5/10 min drive but makes a big difference to Chester) and back. he's now chilling happily (where before he was screaming the house down and I couldn't get any work done).
I think I'm doing the right thing.
that said- there was loads of traffic out. no different from last week and certainly not the quiet roads of the first lockdown (but it's hard for me to judge when I was contributing to the traffic!)

I agree MN. I’m going to drive Albie to a couple of local parks every now and then (5 mins drive) as he can’t walk far enough to get there yet.
He’s started being a bit far sick sometimes though now 😕

I'll be taking arlo to various walking spots in the car. For his well being and mine, we need to mix it up and he needs at least 3 walks a day. We are fortunate that we have a seperate woodland, lake and a beach all within 5-10mins.
But I would also be happy to drive him 30-45 mins to walk if I decided to larger woodland areas, where it would actually be safer due to the size as our local ones get quite busy.

2 minutes walk from us is our local reservoir. But this is a recognised local beauty spot and at weekends is teeming with people. A 5 minute drive away is a country park that we can walk in for half an hour and maybe see three people. We will continue to drive there at weekends to exercise Ollie and Frankie (during the week and especially early morning and evening, the reservoir is fine)

Dog walker just dropped arlo off and said he was eating a jellyfish* on the beach. He had it in half and dropped it so she distracted him and got him away. Been fine since.
*From her description, it was a clear jelly like blob and no tentacles, not a typical jellyfish and she said she sees them all the time and she calls them jellyfish. It sounds like a sea gooseberry. Anyone know if they are harmful to dogs if he did eat any of it?

Sorry can’t help you there Roberto.
Meeting the dog walker for the first time later. I really hope it will work and Albie will cope (and that lockdown doesn’t affect it too much) - if I can’t get this sorted I can’t work! 😬

I’ve met the dog walker and she is lovely and seems really good.
She has training as a dog trainer too and was trained by the author of the puppy book I’ve been reading and also recommends the trainer I’ve had a couple of sessions with so that was really reassuring. She was great with Albie and her plans sound really good in terms of helping with socialisation as well as training and walking.
It’s helped put my mind at rest. Hopefully the transition works well. 🤞🤞 We start next week.
