I'm stunned that you encountered a 'smacking' trainer Roberto! And not surpised you flinched. I thought that 'Show 'em who's boss' stuff went out with the ark!

Skye's current bag of food is science plan puppy food. Next bag is something different...will keep trying different ones.

Definitely need to keep Skye active & get her thinking. She is doing well so far. It's going to be little & often

She's a really lovely dog. I want to keep her stimulated.

Jet only stinks if he's managed to get some cat-poo down his gullet. Luckily that isn't often.

Re the smacking trainer. There are boarding kenels where you can send your spaniel to be trained as a gundog (I think William and Kate did that). Very highly rated. I saw a video from one and the man was smacking the dog and throwing it around, the poor dog was cowering. But apparently the dogs are 'very' obedient afterwards.

It makes me cringe to think of it.

Jet had a 'busy nose' at our agility lesson yesterday and clearly showed that he had no fear at all when I spoke, or shouted, or chased him to come back. On one run he went through the tunnel, diverted in a large circle to smell where the pheasants had been, then came back to do the next jump. Obedience? Ha! Grrr.

WL - this is our dog trainer, she’s offering 121 outdoor classes over lockdown. She’s really good, Boots made lots of progress with her.

H - our neighbours sent their French pug to a residential training BootCamp. Hasn’t helped tho, and I wonder if it’s because the dog isn’t learning to trust it’s human, but rather learning with a different person altogether.

I can’t bear the idea of smacking a dog. Even 35+ years ago when it was thought the way you trained dogs, I hated it.

Wobbling is that a boot camp just for the dog then? That implies the dog is the issue which ignores the fact that what we do as owners is crucial. I’d say in my own case that I am the main issue.

HP, yep, you get your dog trained by someone else at huge expense.
