Agree with consistency. In my experience a dog very quickly soon works out who in the household is a 'soft touch'

It's definitely the humans who need the training, and they are much harder to train than the dog. I suggest taking them along to training classes with you, even just as spectators, to help with that

Can anyone recommend a decent running belt? Mine is now several sizes too big for me and will actually fall off my hips if I try running with it. I have three dogs but Ollie will be fine off lead and just tagging along. The other cocker and the collie though would benefit from a bit of on lead running.
