Its a breed thing I think BBL, Indi is not that bothered about food which is good from a stealing perspective but less helpful for training treats!

It definitely is - but I hadn't realised until our thread that Spaniels and Staffies are as bad as Labs! Do you think Shepherds are in the minority? I don't imagine Collies as food thieves somehow. Too busy either plotting world domination or being inappropriately neurotic.

I think there is definitely a scavenger gene in most terriers - Staffordshires included!

Wanda's friend Teazle has visited again today. Wanda (given that she'd had a bit of tummy ache and no breakfast) wasn't really in the mood to play very much so lay in the garden on her towel while Teazle brought all Wanda's tuggers and tennis balls outside in the hope that one of them would tempt her!

Actually, I suspect Jet may be a bit is hungry between meals. Now he's lost his winter coat he's looking a bit thin, which usually happens at this time of year. I remember a couple of years ago the dog show judge saying Jet was underweight (the vet disagreed). He seems to use more calories in summer so I'm giving slightly more rations.

The little scavenger has just picked and eaten a baby apple from one of the trees in the garden - it's not even ripe!

George is an excellent scavenger and very food-driven.

We had a BBQ recently and the 4 smallest attendees sat on a blanket to eat their food. George dutifully left them alone to eat but as soon as they vacated the blanket, he moved in to clear up. Just as I shouted at him to leave it, he snatched the end of a French stick and promptly went and buried it in the border (so I wouldn't be able to take it off him, presumably!). I haven't seen him dig it up yet :)

Steal doesn’t scavenge - she just stares and drools.

There's a tiny Working Cocker at our scent class who is a really talented treat scavenger - she's so quick and wriggly and bouncy. Her owner says Spaniels have 'pocket-shaped noses' :-)

Rory's a real scavenger out on walks, not so bad at home (although I do give him tiny bits of 'people food' for not bothering me when I'm cooking or eating, so he's probably learnt that he just has to wait, and it will come to him!)
