I suspect Wanda, Flossie and Jet may all be secretly in cahoots with each other....
Last night we had an M&S £10 meal and the main course was a Roast Chicken, but one of those that you cook in the wrapper, which is coated with rotisserie 'sauce'. Wanda was very interested throughout the whole cooking and eating process. Afterwards we left what was remaining of the chicken on the top of the cooker (out of reach) and put the wrapper and quite a few chicken bones in the bin. Then we went into the garden for about 2 minutes to put something in the shed and make sure the door was locked......
On our return to the kitchen the bin had been emptied and the rotisserie wrapper was mostly in Wanda's mouth along with goodness knows what from the bin. Poking through the remaining rubbish I counted a good number of chicken bones thankfully but this morning when we saw later 'evidence' the details of which I'll spare you....it became clear that much of the wrapper had been eaten rather than just licked clean.
She has been asking for breakfast this morning so must be feeling better but has been told that dogs who raid bins don't get breakfast........!

There is some telepathy going on here.
One of the new behaviours that Jet adopted while I was walking is to jump up onto the worktop and steal whatever has been left there (there are children in the house so...) No opportunity wasted.
Obviously I am not best pleased, and have been putting Jet into his crate with the door shut, or shutting Jet out of the kitchen every time I leave the room. Basically - 'the dog is never to be allowed in the kitchen on his own unless he's inside his crate with the door shut.'
I think I'm going to have to accept that dog training restarts in October when I finish my long walk, but everyone has had a lecture from me about me coming home to find a live dog at the end of the month.

Great photo LD
Too hot for Charlie at the moment. He’s spending most of his time lying in a paddling pool of water.

True to form...
I've just given Mr a fruit scone to have with his cup of tea. Jet has refined his 'stealing from a plate while attention diverted' and was faster at snaffling than Mr was at removing it from his reach. Jet now has half a scone in his tummy.

Cookie and Phoebe are generally good with stealing food. They have learnt ‘leave’, although chips from the pavement are usually fair game.

Jess found what looked suspiciously like a rabbit's head - sans ears! - on our walk this morning. She displayed some interest in it ...but the lure of an adjacent stick that I was about to pick up proved a greater attraction.
