Get well soon, Phoebe and Wanda xx George has gone to stay with someone he knows but has never stayed with before while the rest of us go to a family wedding. He’ll be fine and spoilt rotten but I’m still a bit anxious - daft, isn’t it?

I walked Cookie and Phoebe earlier. Cookie was being a tinker (very polite way of expressing my feelings at the time). I noticed a bloke walking a dog towards us so moved them to one side to sit them down whilst it passed. The dog got about a cars length away and stopped, it didn’t look happy. I walked around them and the bloke spoke to me and told me the dog was a rescue from Romania. I told him mine were from Dogs Trust. His next line was about how the dog had arrived at his house only 1/2 an hour earlier so he’d got it out for a walk. He then walked off with the poor thing with its tail right underneath its bum, head gown and ears back. Even worse, it had no collar on and was being harness walked/controlled on a harness I could have got an arm through the gap between material and dog.

Oh no, some people have no idea... in fact a lot of people have no idea how to own a dog... I suggest dogs have to be licenced but this is only granted once the prospective owner has passed an assessment / test.

It's a shame that chap isn't given some help with settling the dog (and how to read its body language, and how distressed it is probably feeling should have been obvious things to explain) from the organisation he got it from.
Glad Phoebe is feeling better.
You can tell Spring is here. Floss has just asked to go out; not for a wee but so that she can lie out, in the dark, on the decking

I left Ernie with the next door neighbour for the first time today. She has 2 Labradors whom Ernie absolutely adores. She also has Freddie the cat who Ernie has spent nearly 2 years trying to engage in play whilst Freddie resolutely ignores him. Apparently Ernie and Freddie were snoozing in the same basket for much of the afternoon. I'd call that a success.

Aww Ernie, persistence pays off!
Rory has been introduced to a new toy by his trainer Miranda. It's called a 'dog flirt pole' (if you're googling that, it's VERY important to get the precise right search term...) Miranda says we are 'using Premack's principle to create a reward structure'. Rory thinks he's getting to hunt, so he bloody loves it. I get quite a good HIIT workout, sprinting around the basketball court in the park pretending to be a rabbit. I'm hoping though that at some point we can transition to a slightly more compact toy because I don't really want to have to tote a horse lunging whip around with me forever...
