Took Floss for her annual jabs today. Usually she's fine in the waiting room and only tries to hide behind the door when we go into the consulting room, but today she was really vocal and whiny as soon as we got through the outside door. When she had the actual jab she didn't even notice. *rolls eyes*
And the bad news for her is that she's a good kilo over her ideal weight so reduced rations are the order of the day!

I can never remember the name of Rory's food. It's some kind of fancy grain-free white fish kibble for 'sensitive dogs', because when he arrived he was skinny and he wouldn't eat. Now he's not so skinny, and pretty good at eating I think he'd probably be fine with anything.
He's also become a total teenage delinquent. I am pleased about this because, as his trainer said this evening, 'he's turned into a normal dog. He's not scared, he's not anxious...and he's not going to do anything unless he thinks it's worth his while.' Sometimes (for example, when he's stolen my bra and run away downstairs with it), you might mistake my pleased-ness for slight irritation. You'd definitely be wrong though. Definitely.

It's great that he has settled so quickly Mazlin. Seeing a rehomed dog turn from an anxious and frightened little soul into a happy and confident dog is wonderful. Although we would occasionally remind Wanda that we would only need to put her on a train on her own and then when it stopped in London a kind person would take her straight back to Battersea........ (just to keep her on her toes obviously )

It does occasionally cross my mind 'I could just pop you down to the Harbour and find someone to take you on the ferry back to Spain...'

I'd like to say you'll have fewer thoughts like that as time goes on, Mazlin. but I'm possibly in the territory of the Things you'd like to say... thread

Haha! I have nowhere to threaten Ernie with. He is more of a sock thief than a knicker nicker I need to train him to collect them from round the house and put them in the laundry bin.

Dougal steals the boys cuddly toys. He waits for the postman , I go to get the post, he runs up to try and get the post (as he has done before) then last two times as I'm about to pick up the post, he suddenly darts up the stairs and comes back with a mouthful of cuddly toy. Then I have to spend the next 10 minutes retrieving, as boys will not be happy if he mauls one!

We have just been to see a new kennel club registered trainer/ kennels. She only boards a couple of dogs at a time in her house and has a female shepherd and a little elderly indeterminate dog of her own.
My normally confident boy was scared, I've never seen him scared before; that dog that attacked him has a lot to answer for. After a while he realised it was all ok but I'm traumatised by his reaction and very very upset .... and angry. Anyway.... we stayed about an hour and he ended up loving everything so we have overlaid some nice positive feelings on top of the fear from last week. And the trainer taught us STOP which only took one attempt, bless him he is so clever. I'm going to try one of her classes this coming Sunday if I can. Pffft

I am cross on your behalf as well. So glad Indi came round though and it seems to have been a lovely experience in the end.
When I said to the JRT owner that Ernie is now scared of JRT type dogs she scoffed at me. Oblivious to the damage she has done.
