Like you, my programme isn't available. I wonder how many other former contestants are on Fetch? There were quite a few over the twenty odd years that the series was on TV.

I know of one other former contestant on Fetch, there was a thread when the re-invented and not-as-good-as-when-we-were-on-it series came back about five or so years ago (yes, I did apply unsuccessfully) but I haven't encountered anyone else

Good luck with your weekend Alice. Do you know if the 4yo's fear stems from something specific or from her parents being 'scared' around dogs too? You may find that taking them both to the park (or large outdoor space) to play might help?

Alice the Camel
I have a few things planned that we will all do together, LD. I'm not going to shut Charlie away all weekend, that's just not fair on him.
However, if you're scared of dogs I can see how having 10kg of white fluff jumping over you could be a bit traumatic. He only wants to lick and sniff but doesn't really go the right way about it!
There were a few things on Me and My Dog that bothered me this week. The picture/toy game, where most of the time they were holding the pic next to the correct toy. How on earth they taught the golden lab to ignore that HUGE lump of cheese on the coffee table after only 20 minutes. The final triathlon. I couldn't see how 2 women and a one legged man had a chance of beating 2 obviously very fit blokes, especially once their dogs didn't have to swim.
I have never been on The Krypton Factor.

Indeed AtC, I did think that the two front dogs had advantageous owners and yes, the proximity of picture to toy was amusing.
I'm smiling this morning because Jet's aversion to going out through the front door on a lead with Mr has remained even though the context has changed. He's firmly glued to the inside of his crate right now and I suspect that even cheese won't shift him. However, Mr's biggest problem right now is that Jet carries his shoes and then drops them in random places, and Mr can't find a 'pair'.

My brother's three children used to be terrified of Pippa, especially when they were around 4. My brother would make a big thing of having a very gentle stroke with her to show them how unthreatening she was. It worked for one of the twins (who then decided she wanted a dog and four years later Bertie the spaniel came to live with them) while the boy twin managed to tolerate the dog while his elder sister needed the spaniel to come live with them before she overcame her fear.
I was terrified of dogs too as a kid, mainly due to a hyper active deaf spaniel and a bite from a GSD.

I'm glad to have found somewhere I can say "It's like a Krypton Factor challenge" and not receive blank stares (or the internet equivalent).
AtC Ernie is similar. He wants to play and gets totally overexcited and bounces all over the place. It's quite intimidating for littlies. One of the many reasons we have to have him on a lead when others are around.

At four years old any dog looks big! We put a lot of effort into 'gentle hands' with the children. They need to understand that screeching and arm-waving worries the dog, but there is an age before which they don't yet have that level of empathy, so we stick with basic 'thou shalt/not' type instructions.
