Alice the Camel
She's here until Monday teatime so I'm planning to teach her how to get Charlie to do some of his tricks. If I can get her to stroke him before she goes home I'll feel like I've succeeded in some way!

It doesn't help that Charlie is still too bouncy and excitable in certain situations, something I'm trying to address at the moment.

How lovely that Ralph and Maddie still recognised each other after all that time heart

I was a bit puzzled by somehting that was said on Me and My Dog about 'noe of these dogs have had any specialised training' or words to that effect.

Yet it was clear that all the owners have had *some* form of running/fitness experience with their dogs, and the owners were all quite fit.

If the producers went round asking dog training clubs, agility clubs, caniX clubs etc for candidates (there was one from our club but she didn't get through) then how could they say that?

I haven't watched the 'final' yet but I have also heard that said and clearly some of the dogs had basic agility skills too. I think Alice said that her trainer was an 'expert' on the programme and a large proportion of the competitors seemed to be from the SW of England so I am guessing they were recruited from clubs in that area.

Perhaps they meant they hadn't been specially trained in the actual thing that the show was doing but as these were all clearly invented purely for the show, that's hardly surprising. A dog may have done 'agility' but that's not the same as the 'parkour' or the 'mud obstacle race' in their eyes I guess.

I still want to go on it though...... many many many years ago I was a competitor on The Krypton Factor and the disappointment at not getting further than the first heat still pains me..... :-)
