BBL glad agility class was useful. In answer to your previous question Ernie is much improved in terms of jumping up more generally. I have just realised he hardly jumps up unless it is someone he really likes. He greeted the boiler installers like old friends each day this week but didn't jump up much.

OK, opinions requested 
Charlie is booked in at the groomers on Thursday for a shearing - he's looking very shaggy dog at the moment. Trouble is, he looks *really* scruffy - apart from his hair being a bit wild and long and covering his eyes, he's pretty grubby from foraging in muddy hedgerows. Should I bath and brush him before he goes? I don't want the groomer to think I neglect him!
Bear in mind, I used to tidy the house from top to bottom the day before the cleaning lady came. The house doesn't often get tidied now that we don't have a cleaner any more.

Logic tells me don't bother washing/brushing before groomers. However, I know I would probably be unwilling to bring my stinky, scruffy dog to the groomer.

Thanks for the tips HP.
I used to do that for the cleaner when I had one too (because I want to pay her to clean not tidy :))
No idea re: grooming. Dexter's front claws are getting long and he doesn't like them being filed so I might have to take him to the groomers... so I shall watch the replies with interest

Our breeder showed us how to clip Flossie's claws with nail clippers before we brought her home, RA. I rarely bother now because our walks include enough pavement work to keep them sufficiently short, but as he said, if we did it when she was very young it would help her to get accustomed to being handled, which seemed a fair point.

It's a very good reason for pavement pounding LD! Off road and off lead is so much easier and faster but we deliberately include pavement and in town work for that purpose as well as others.

His back claws are fine with all the Tarmac work...its just the front claws. And they're black so I can't see where the quick is 😞
